Background
Indian Head Massage is an ancient art. Its origins lie in the traditional system of medicine known as Ayvrveda, the most ancient form of healing and it details the importance of massage.

Indian Head Massage was introduced to the West only recently, and has become one of the most popular therapies. It has evolved to include techniques for the upper back, shoulders, upper arms and neck area. Indian Head Massage was originally developed by women as part of their grooming routine to keep their hair strong and in beautiful condition.

What happens during a treatment
After a full consultation is taken detailing present and past medical history, the client is placed in either a sitting position or the lying position. The massage incorporates deep thumb and finger pressure, friction as well as stroking and laying of hands. It includes a massage of the shoulders, neck, scalp and face.

Oils can be used but Indian Head Massage can also be performed fully clothed without the use of these.
